Coronation Street: Kit Reaches Breaking Point as Lisa Orders Him to Take Sick Leave

Coronation Street is set to put Kit Green under growing pressure as he tries to continue working while undergoing chemotherapy. Upcoming scenes show his determination to carry on colliding with concern from his family and colleagues, eventually prompting Lisa Swain to tell him that he needs to take sick leave.

Kit has been struggling with the attention surrounding his illness. Bernie’s efforts to look after him are well intentioned, but he increasingly feels that the people around him are treating him differently rather than allowing him to decide what he can manage.

Kit feels overwhelmed by his family’s concern

At home, Bernie continues trying to make sure Kit is eating properly and taking care of himself. The situation becomes more uncomfortable when he finds Bernie and Gemma discussing the BRCA gene, keeping his health at the centre of family conversation.

Dev notices that Kit needs a break and suggests they go out for a curry. Although Kit appreciates the change of scene, Dev also encourages him to understand why Bernie has become so protective.

Pressure builds at the police station

Kit’s determination to remain at work becomes increasingly difficult to sustain. Exhausted, he resists Lisa’s suggestion that he should go home and rest.

The tension then spills over when a distressed woman in the waiting area has a coughing fit near him. Kit loses his temper, and Kirk witnesses the exchange before later telling Bernie, Brody and Dev what happened.

Brody points out that Kit is receiving chemotherapy and therefore needs to be particularly careful about exposure to illness, adding to the concern that continuing to work may be putting too much strain on him.

Lisa tells Kit to take sick leave

Lisa ultimately steps in and tells Kit that he needs to take sick leave. Rather than accepting the decision, Kit reacts furiously and directs his frustration towards Bernie, believing that her concern may have influenced what has happened.

The confrontation highlights the difficult balance at the centre of the storyline. Kit wants to retain control and independence while receiving treatment, but the people around him can see signs that he may be pushing himself too hard.

Sarah offers Kit an emotional moment

Amid the pressure, Kit also encounters Sarah, who asks how he is coping. He is touched when she admits that she still thinks about him, offering a more personal moment during an otherwise difficult week.

The available previews do not confirm whether Kit will ultimately accept Lisa’s instruction without further resistance. What is clear is that his illness is increasingly affecting both his home life and his ability to continue working as before.

Coronation Street airs on ITV1, with episodes also available on ITVX.
