“She was the closest thing I had to a sister. We fought like sisters, even when we were kids, that’s the relationship we had,” Jodie said. “Candace’s faith, to be quite honest, has always been at the forefront for her, and I have zero problem with that.”

Where Jodie has been more outspoken about supporting the LGBTQIA+ community and things like reproductive rights, Candace is upfront regarding her more conservative beliefs.

She is the chief content officer (COO) of the Great American Family network, and she once came under fire for saying the channel would focus on “traditional marriage,” with the implication being they wouldn’t tell stories about same-sex couples. Jodie later expressed disappointment when one of her films was sold to GAC.

“I do know that I don’t think you can truly love people if you don’t respect them,” The Jane Mysteries star says. “I think if you don’t respect people enough to allow them the same rights of marriage, of bodily autonomy and all those things, then I don’t think that you can truly love someone. It’s some sort of weird pity, and it’s not love.”

The Stephanie Tanner actress also said that Candace, who played her sister DJ Tanner on Full House and its revival, wanted to keep politics out of her brand more or less, whereas Jodie is happy to be outspoken.

“If there’s people who don’t like what I’m saying or are like, ‘I like you as Stephanie but I don’t like you as you.’ It’s, like, ‘Great, watch Full House and don’t follow me online.’ It’s OK, you don’t have to like me, but I try not to let other people’s perceptions of who I should be … put up any barriers of what I want to be,” she explains. “Candace and I are very different in that regard.”

Jodie and another Full House co-star recently revealed which Olsen twin was generally preferred on set.
