EastEnders: Has Amy Killed Craig? Violent Escape Ends in Shocking Cliffhanger

Warning: This article contains spoilers for the EastEnders episode released on BBC iPlayer on Wednesday 4 November 2026, including references to grooming, coercive control and violence.

EastEnders has left viewers facing a disturbing question: has Amy Mitchell killed Craig Ingram? The teenager’s ordeal took another frightening turn in Wednesday’s episode, culminating in a desperate act of self-defence and an unresolved cliffhanger.

Amy’s escape becomes a race against time

Craig has been exploiting Amy’s vulnerability for months. The former police officer concealed the true circumstances of his departure from the force and drew Amy further into an increasingly controlling relationship. Earlier in the week, he assaulted her after discovering that the bank account containing her inheritance had been frozen.

Her family, increasingly desperate to bring her home, attempted an elaborate intervention. Sean Slater arranged for Denise Fox to record a message suggesting she was dying and wanted to say goodbye. The plan brought Amy to the hospital, but it fell apart when a nurse questioned Denise’s presence on the cancer ward.

Wednesday’s episode picked up as Denise tried to persuade Amy not to return to Craig. Amy was upset that her stepmother had deceived her and walked away. Meanwhile, Sean and Craig became embroiled in a physical fight. The sight of Amy interrupted the confrontation, but Craig seized the moment to get her back into his car and drive away.

Craig demands £100,000 from Jack

Back at the bedsit, Craig made a chilling demand. He contacted Amy’s father, Jack Branning, and asked for £100,000 in exchange for her release. The demand exposed the extent to which Amy was being treated as a means to obtain money rather than as someone Craig cared about.

Amy was horrified by the ultimatum. Craig tried to reassure her that he would not leave her if his plan worked, but his words did little to disguise the danger. When he left to collect dinner, she finally began to understand the situation she was in.

She called Denzel Danes, who passed the phone to Sean. Yet the opportunity for help came too late to prevent another confrontation.

A desperate act of self-defence

Craig returned and attempted to sexually assault Amy. After he struck her again, she fled towards the bedroom. The confrontation ended when she hit him on the head with a candle holder in self-defence.

Craig fell to the floor bleeding, and the episode ended without confirming whether he survived. It is important to distinguish the shocking cliffhanger from an established death: the programme has not yet confirmed that Craig is dead.

The scene also needs to be understood in context. Amy was trying to escape an abusive adult who had isolated, threatened and assaulted her. Describing her response as a calculated murder would ignore both the circumstances shown on screen and the unresolved nature of the ending.

What happens to Amy now?

There are several unanswered questions. Will Amy be able to contact Sean, Jack or Denise? Will Craig survive his injuries? And how will the family respond when they discover what has happened in the bedsit?

Sean has already risked a great deal to find her, and Denise’s failed deception has complicated Amy’s trust in the adults trying to help. The immediate priority for the characters is Amy’s safety, not speculation about a criminal outcome that the episode has not established.

For viewers, the story’s emotional impact comes from the way Amy’s vulnerability has been exploited and the lengths she has had to go to escape. The ending creates suspense, but the wider storyline is about abuse, manipulation and the difficulty of leaving a dangerous situation.

When will EastEnders reveal the answer?

Wednesday’s instalment is available on BBC iPlayer and airs on BBC One at 7.30pm. The next scheduled episode offers the earliest opportunity for the drama to address the consequences of the confrontation, although the advance synopsis does not promise an immediate resolution.

Until the programme confirms Craig’s condition, the question remains exactly that: has Amy killed Craig, or will he survive?
