Scott Foley Teases His Return to the ‘Scream’ Franchise: ‘It Was Really Fun’

Scott Foley is sharing some insight into his return to the Scream franchise!

The 53-year-old actor previously played Roman Bridger, the Ghostface killer in Scream 3. He was killed off, or believed to be, but now he’s back for the highly-anticipated Scream 7.

“The character I played, Roman Bridger, sort of was unceremoniously killed, as he should have been, but when I got the call from [director] Kevin Williamson, who I’ve known forever — I did Dawson’s Creek years ago, and then Scream, and Kevin’s been an acquaintance for years — and when he called and asked me back, I was shocked, surprised, but so thrilled,” the actor told Us Weekly at iHeartRadio’s Z100 Jingle Ball in New York City last week.

“I loved working with those people. And I got a chance to see Neve [Campbell] and David [Arquette] again, and it was great. It was really fun,” Scott continued.

He isn’t the only one returning as a dead character. Scream 7 will also see the return of Matthew Lillard as Stu Macher and, as Scott mentioned, David Arquette is reprising his role as Dewey Riley, who was murdered in Scream 5.

It’s unclear how these characters are “returning” from the dead, but many fans have speculated that the killer in Scream 7 will be using artificial intelligence or something similar to “revive” them and torment Sidney Prescott.

Unfortunately, the Scandal alum couldn’t provide anymore details.

“I haven’t read the script, so I have no idea,” he told the outlet. “I mean, they didn’t give me a script. They’re like, you’re gonna do this and I did it.”

Scream 7 will be released in theaters on February 27, 2026.
